Ready to Rock: Di’ja’s New Music Video Coming Soon!
November 8, 2010 § 2 Comments
Behind the “glamour and the glitter,” to paraphrase Buju Banton, is no “bed o’ rose!” “It’s Not an Easy Road” is what ran through my head when I finally caught up with African recording artist (who launched her career in Canada) Di’ja and her crew at a small recording studio in Northern Virginia. After weeks of trying to pin them down, it was somewhat satisfying to witness this young lady working on her music. Turns out Di’ja has been working almost non-stop, recording tracks for her new album and working on the video for her breakout hit “Rocksteady” (which they are planning on releasing in just a few weeks!)
I first wrote about Di’ja (who’s proud of her Nigeria/Sierra Leone/Lebanon roots) on this blog after watching a live performance she did in Silver Spring, Maryland; you can read that post here. The dedication and focus which I noticed then was in action again as she laid down vocals and backing tracks to her material. This is a young woman who not only knows where she wants to get to, but has a clear
understanding of what it takes to get there. And judging by the head-nod beats and catchy melodies I heard in that studio, I can definitely say she’s well on her way. I wish I could let you in on some of the behind-the-scenes video that I shot… but for obvious reasons, I can’t. You can, however, enjoy a few of the photos I took. And you can also visit Di’ja’s web page to hear more of her music. Needless to say as soon as the “Rock Steady” video drops we’ll bring it to you here! Stay tuned for more Di’ja on Afrofusion Lounge and Afrofusion TV! Bless…
